MERCERVILLE, Ohio — A 26-10 third quarter surge ultimately provided the South Gallia boys basketball team enough breathing room Saturday night during a 64-45 victory over visiting Wahama in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division matchup in Gallia County.
The host Rebels (16-5, 12-4 TVC Hocking) snapped a two-game losing skid and secured third place outright in the league standings behind co-champs Waterford and Trimble, but the White Falcons (8-12, 7-9) managed to make things more than interesting in the opening 16 minutes of play.

The Red and Gold followed with a trio of trifectas as part of small 13-12 second quarter run, allowing the hosts to secure a 24-19 edge at the break.
Hutchinson and Darren Drenner each scored eight points apiece in the third canto as South Gallia increased its lead to 50-29, but WHS ended regulation with a small 16-14 run to wrap up the 19-point outcome.
