A total of six players from Gallia Academy were selected to the All-Southeastern Ohio Athletic League football team, as voted on by the coaches within the league.
The Blue Devils, who were 1-9 overall and 1-2 in league-play, finished third in the four-team league and earned four first team spots and two honorable mention selections.
GAHS seniors Kole Carter and Anthony Sipple, who were both first team All-SEOAL last season, both earned All-SEOAL first team honors again this year. Matt Bailey and Devin Henry each earned a first team spot, their first All-SEOAL football honors, while seniors Brett Johnson and Justin Reynolds were also chosen to the honorable mention list for the second straight year.
Carter, a quarterback and a linebacker for the Blue Devils, finished with 931 passing yards, 12 passing scores, 899 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, and 94 tackles in his senior campaign. Sipple, a lineman on offense and defense, recorded 38 tackles and five sacks this season.
Henry posted 355 yards and four touchdowns on 36 receptions this year, while Bailey had 414 yards and three scores on 34 grabs.
For the second straight year Jackson won the league title with a 3-0 mark and had an SEOAL-best 10 selections to the all-league squad, followed by runner-up Logan (2-1) with nine choices. Warren (0-3) garnered five selections each.
The Ironmen came away with eight first-team selections and both major awards as Andy Hall was named coach of the year and Hunter Sexton was the player of the year.
Joining Sexton on the first team from JHS were Reagin Cooper, Austin Leach, Collin Massie, Raymon Potter, Codey Roseberry and Elijah Woolum. Johnny Farley and Blake McCoy were also honorable mention selections for Jackson.
Zach Buckley, Tommy Hayden, Kory Henthorne, Lane Little, Bryce McBride, Josh Rardain and Isaiah Smith were the first team choices for Logan, while Brendan Karns and Jenson Wallace were the Chieftains’ honorable mention selections.
Warren was represented on the first team by Robert Fish, Justus Johnson and Cole Riffle, while Jake Davis and David Rowland were honorable mention choices.
Sexton and McBride each earned first team All-SEOAL honors for the third time in their careers, while Massie, Potter, Henthorne, Little and Smith each claimed their second all-league honors.
Each team received two automatic All-SEOAL honorable mention selections.
