GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — Not a good way to spend a weekend.
The Teays Valley Christian boys soccer team defeated host Ohio Valley Christian 4-1 on Saturday in Gallia County. The Defenders (2-6-2) were down early to the Lions and were not able to get any rhythm on offense.
TVC didn’t waste anytime as Hunter Bell scored an unassisted goal two minutes into the contest. Koby Neal scored a goal of his own in the 26th minute to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage going into halftime.
John Legge added another goal in the 71st minute to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. In the 72nd minute of the contest, Justin Sizemore netted a goal — with an assist from Colton Cox — to help the Defenders avoid the shutout. Neal returned the favor moments later to seal the win for the Lions.
TVC recorded 17 shots on goal, while OVC got 10. The Lions also led with 13 saves, while OVC’s Marshall Hood had nine saves. The Lions had a 3-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The Defenders will host their regular season finale on Thursday against Grace. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
