ELIZABETH, W.Va. — Host Wirt County and Riverside split events at the 2015 Wirt County Wetlands Invitational on Tuesday in Wirt County.
The Lady Tigers paced the field in the girls event with 22 points — with five runners finishing in the top-10 — followed by St. Marys in second with 53 points and Clay County in third with 89 points. Point Pleasant finished fifth with 97 points. Wirt’s Mary Kerby led the field of 47 with a time of 22:59.5.
Allison Henderson (25:57.8) led the Lady Knights with an 11th place finish. Karson Bonecutter (28:22.2) placed 19th, while Macy Adkins (28:34.5) and Cierra Beatty (28:35.7) finished 21st and 22nd respectively. Makinley Higginbottom (40:03.6) took 45th place, followed by Karissa Cochran (40:08.1) placed 46th for Point Pleasant.
The Warriors won the boys event with 54 points — with three runners finishing in the top-10 — followed by St. Marys in second with 72 points and Ravenswood in third with 76 points. Point Pleasant finished eighth with 178 points. Riverside’s Nicholaus Kennedy paced the field of 62 with a time of 17:29.9.
Hunter White (19:34) led the Black Knights with a 19th place finish, followed by Luke Wilson (19:34.6) with a 21st place finish. Brandon Henderson (23:42.9) placed 45th, while Wyatt Dean (24:32) and Tanner Durst (26:54.7) finished 50th and 55th place respectively. Brandon Hall (27:23.2) finished 56th, followed by Bradley Gibbs (29:02) in 57th and Byron Fisher (31:28.2) in 60th.
