ALBANY, Ohio — The skid continues.
The Meigs Volleyball team dropped its fourth straight match Thurday, as Tri-Valley Confernce Ohio Divion host Alexander claimed a 3-0 win, in Athens County.
The Lady Marauders (3-13, 2-5 TVC Ohio) led by as many as seven in the opening game, but the Lady Spartans battled back to take an 18-17 lead. Alexander kept the momentum and outscored Meigs 7-to-4 over the remainder of the first, capping off the 25-21 victory.
Meigs again led early in the second game, but Alexander came back from down five to take the lead at 17-16. The Lady Marauders regained a lead at 22-19, but were ourscored 7-to-2 over the remainder of the game, as Alexander claimed a 26-24 win.
The Maroon and Gold led by as many as six early in the third game, but the Lady Spartans battled back to tie the game at 15. AHS outscored Meigs 10-to-5 over the rest of the game and won by a 25-20 count, sealing the 3-0 victory.
Alexander also defeated Meigs in straight games on September 3, in Rocksprings.
The Lady Maraduders were led by junior Devyn Oliver with nine service points including five aces, followed by Kassidy Betzing with eight points and four aces. Devin Humphreys posted five points in the setback, Alliyah Pullins added three, while both Jordan Roush and Morgan Lodwick finished with two points, including an ace by Roush.
The MHS net attack was led by Betzing with 10 kills, followed by Pullins with eight. Oliver and Lodwick both marked four kills, while Humphreys and Allie Hanstine each added one. Pullins, Oliver and Betzing each had a block for the Meigs defense, while Roush had a team-high 11 digs and Oliver posted a team-best 22 assists.
Meigs returns to action on Tuesday, when Wellston visits Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium.
