RV 2nd at Skyline Lanes meet

BIDWELL, Ohio — The Rock Hill boys and Vinton County girls came away with top honors Wednesday at the 2017 Skyline Lanes Cross Country Invitational held on the campus of River Valley High School in Gallia County.

A total of eight different schools took part in the event, which included a total of 95 participants between the two varsity contests.

RVHS ultimately finished second in both of those competitions. The Raiders scored 37 points and ended up 17 points behind the Redmen, while the Lady Raiders posted a team tally of 39 points while finishing 20 points back of the Lady Vikings.

Five teams and 58 competitors took part in the boys race, which Jasson Aguilera of Rock Hill won by posting a time of 18:36.96. Teammate Ethan Miller was the overall runner-up with a mark of 18:51.19.

Senior Nathaniel Abbott led the Silver and Black with a third place effort of 19:04.40, followed by Rory Twyman (19:10.25) and George Rickett (19:12.07) with respective finishes of sixth and seventh.

Kyle Coen had the Raiders fourth and final top-10 finish with a ninth place time of 19:21.06, while Cole Franklin completed the Raider tally with a 12th place effort of 20:00.22.

Austin Livingston (20:39.88) and Caleb McKnight (22:31.30) also finished 16th and 24th, respectively, for the hosts.

Garrett Frazee was the top South Gallia finisher after placing 14th with a time of 20:09.24, while Griffin Davis was 53rd overall with a mark of 27:41.89.

Three teams and 37 runners took part in the girls event, which Rylee Fee of VCHS won with a time of 22:02.40. Teammate Lilly Chevalier was the overall runner-up with a mark of 22:28.48.

Senior Kenzie Baker led the Lady Raiders with a third place finish of 22:55.09, followed by Hannah Culpepper (24:12.73) and Josie Jones (25:32.51) with respective finishes of seventh and 11th.

Akari Michimukai (26:13.31) was 12th overall and Julia Nutter completed the RVHS tally with a mark of 29:33.35. Lexi Stout (31:48.49) and Connie Stewart (31:54.60) rounded out the Lady Raider top seven with efforts of 25th and 26th.

Jessica Luther paced the Lady Rebels with an eighth place time of 24:31.33, while Alex Lu was 27th with a mark of 32:09.62.
