BELPRE, Ohio — You win some, you lose some.
The Meigs volleyball team did both on Saturday, defeating non-conference host Belpre 2-0, while falling to Southern 2-0, at a tri-match in Washington County.
The Lady Marauders (2-8) topped the Lady Golden Eagles by counts of 25-21 and 25-18, while falling to the Lady Tornadoes 25-14 and 26-24.
Against Belpre, Devyn Oliver led the Maroon and Gold with five aces, followed by Jordan Roush with four. Morgan Lodwick served three aces, while Kassidy Betzing and Alliyah Pullins both finished with one.
The MHS net attack was led by Devin Humphreys with five kills, followed by Pullins with four. Lodwick and Betzing both posted three kills, Allie Hanstine added two, while Oliver finished with one kill in the win. Hanstine accounted for both of Meigs’ blocks, Oliver led the way with 13 assists, while Humphreys and Maddie Hendricks both came up with a dig.
Against the Purple and Gold, Meigs was paced by Oliver, Roush and Lodwick with two aces each. Betzing led MHS at the net with seven kills and a block, while Hanstine added four kills. Oliver posted three kills in the setback, Lodwick added two, while Humphreys finished with one.
Oliver finished with eight assists for the Lady Marauders, while Roush posted a team-high five digs followed by Pillins and Oliver with one each.
The Lady Marauders, who hosted Jackson on Monday, return to the court on Tuesday when Vinton County visits Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium. Southern, which visited Trimble on Monday, will be back in action on Tuesday when Belpre visits Racine for a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division tilt.
