RV 5th, Meigs 9th at Jackson Invite

JACKSON, Ohio — Identical efforts by the local representatives.

River Valley earned a pair of fourth place finishes and Meigs came away with a pair of ninth place efforts Thursday night during the 2017 Jackson Track and Field Invitational held on the campus of Jackson Middle School in The Apple City.

Both the Raiders and Lady Raiders earned a dozen top-six finishes in their respective competitions, which also included five top-three efforts apiece and an individual champion each.

The Marauders and Lady Marauders, conversely, combined for only three top-six finishes between the two programs.

Waverly won the 17-event boys competition with 159 points, with Paint Valley (85), Jackson (80) and Pike Eastern (53) rounding out the top four spots. The Raiders were fifth out of 10 teams with 51 points, while the Marauders finished ninth with two points.

River Valley landed its lone event title with a winning time of 9:00.19 in the 4x800m relay. The Silver and Black were also fifth in both the 4x100m (48.39) and 4x400m (4:01) relays.

Isaiah Beach had the top individual performance for RVHS after placing second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.32 seconds. Beach was also fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 7.5 inches.

J.D. Dummitt was third in the 110m hurdles (16.72), while Brandon Call was third in the 800m run with a mark of 2:13.73. Andrew Moffett was also third in the 100m dash (11.75) and fifth in the 200m (24.58) dash.

Nathaniel Abbott finished fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 4:53.87, while Eric Weber was fifth in the discus with a heave of 125 feet, 2 inches. Layne Fitch was sixth in the 100m dash with a mark of 24.87 seconds.

The Marauders scored a point apiece with a pair of sixth place efforts in the 4x200m relay (1:43.81) and the 4x400m relay (4:08.0).

Waverly won the 17-event girls competition with 128 points, with Alexander (103), Jackson (92) and Trimble (48) rounding out the top four spots. The Lady Raiders were fifth out of 10 teams with 43 points, while the Lady Marauders finished tied with Pike Eastern for ninth place with two points.

Kelsey Brown earned River Valley’s lone event title after winning the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, 9.5 inches. Brianna McGuire was second in the discus (97-5), while Caitlin Theiss was third in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 7.5 inches.

Madison Taber was fourth in the discus (78-2) event and Gabrielle Gibson was fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 19.94 seconds. Savannah Reese was also fourth in the 400m dash with a mark of 1:06.46.

Gabby Adkins placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 4-8. Kenzie Baker was sixth in the 1600m run (6:31.19) and Alyssa Lollathon was sixth in the long jump (13-3).

River Valley earned a second place effort in the 4x800m relay (12:19.29) and was also third in the 4x400m relay (4:46.4) event. The Lady Raiders also scored a sixth place finish in the 4x100m relay with a time of 1:02.56.

Caitlyn Rest scored all of the Lady Marauder points with a fifth place time of 14:47 in the 3200m run.
