POMEROY, Ohio — From a high school golfing perspective, wow.
Visiting Waterford posted five sub-40 scores and had the six lowest individual rounds Thursday during a 17-stroke victory over Meigs and Eastern at the Meigs County Golf Course.
The Wildcats posted a winning tally of 150, which was well ahead of the runner-up Marauders and their 177 total. The Eagles finished third with a 187. Federal Hocking had only one golfer compete at the match.
Josh Stewart paced WHS with a 2-over par round of 36, which led to medalist honors. Wes Jenkins was the overall runner-up with a 37, while Cam Bosner fired a 38. Alex Branham and Isaac Trader each carded a 39, while Jordan Welch tacked on a 40.
Evan George paced Meigs with a 42, followed by Levi Chapman and Chase Whitlatch with identical rounds of 44. Bryce Swatzel completed the Marauder scoring with a 47, while Wyatt Nicholson and Caleb Stanley respectively carded 50 and 51 for MHS.
Ryan Harbour paced EHS with a 43, followed by Jasiah Brewer with a 44 and Ty Bissell with a 48. Kaleb Honaker completed the Eagle team tally with a 52, while Garrett Chalfant and Jacob Brewer also posted respective rounds of 54 and 56 for Eastern.
Nathan Kidder carded a 51 for the Lancers.
