MASON, W.Va. — With each team claiming three weight classes by forfeit, Wednesday night’s dual match between the White Falcons and visiting Eagles came down to three matches.
The Wahama wrestling team claimed all three of the deciding matches — two by pinfall and one by major decision — giving the White Falcons a 34-18 victory, on Gary Clark Court.
In the 145-pound weight class, Wahama’s Peyton Brewer and Eastern’s Daniel Harris wrestled to a decision, which Brewer claimed by a 14-3 count.
At 160 pounds, WHS junior Ethan Herdman pinned Eastern sophomore Caden Goff in the first round. In the heavyweight class, WHS sophomore Braden Weaver earned a first round pinfall victory over Eastern freshman Nathan Litchfield.
Earning forfeit victories for Wahama were Trey Peters (120), Garrett Snouffer (132) and Wesley Peters (138), while the Eagles that won via forfeit were Eion Marcinko (106), Sarah Bunce (195) and Sam Jones (220).
Originally, the match was scheduled to be a quad, but a pair of teams dropped out. Both Eastern and Wahama also wrestled Belpre in a scrimmage match on Wednesday.
