REEDSVILLE — Eastern Local School board at their recent meeting approved the hire of William Sheppard as the 7th Grade Boys Basketball coach and Juli Well as volunteer Volleyball coach for the approaching school year.
The board also approved open enrollment for Haven Calhoun, Tanner Calhoun, Benjamin Bailey and Cassidy Bailey.
Members voted to approve extended days of service for the 2015-2016 school year for Sara Will, elementary and middle school guidance counselor, who received 10 days, and Macyn Baylor, speech pathologist, who received five days. Hallie Simpson, from the University of Rio Grande, was approved as a fall semester student teacher under kindergarten teacher Chris Wilson. The board also approved Connie Osborne as Food Service/Kitchen Supervisor. A letter of resignation from Rebecca Maxson, full-time bus driver, was read and approve. Her last day was Friday, July 31.
Members approved the Eastern Local School District participation in state and federal grants as determined appropriate by the superintendent and the treasurer and nominated Tom Morrissey as delegate to the 2015 OSBA Annual Business Meeting, with Adam Will as an alternate.
Also Approved was a resolution of intent not to provide career-technical education in grades 7 and 8 for the 2015-16 school year. The board approved to accept bids and quotes for transportation and dairy supplies and the posting of two-part time administrative exempt positions.
Lastly, members approved the Eastern High School Band trip to a production of Drum Corps International that took place Monday, July 27 at the University of Charleston’s Laidley Field.
The next meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
