Meigs BOE approves personnel

POMEROY — The Meigs Local Board of Education met last week to approve personnel.

Present during the meeting were board members Heather Hawley, Roger Abbott, Tony Hawk, and Barbara Musser. Board Member Ryan Mahr was absent.

The board accepted donations in memory of Phillip R. Harrison to purchase new scoreboards and deposit such donations into the MHS Athletic Fund 300-9200.

Board members were approved to participate, per ORC 3313.202, in the district’s group life insurance plan. Board members will be responsible for the annual premium.

The following substitute teachers were re-approved for the 2021-22 school year per Board Policy 3120.04, as approved by the Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center: Julie Beaudry, Nathan Becker, John Bell Jr., Isle Burris, Austin Carr, Teresa Carr, Macklin Caruso, Robert Caul, Trinity Davidson, Rusty Fields, Kenneth Green, Kelley Grueser, Phillip Hoffman III, Trace Huddy, Erin Johnson, Taylor Jones, Clifford Kennedy, Ken McLean, David Moore, Emily Moore, Autumn Porter, Tatjana Price, Milagros Santoni, Ralph Scarmack, Sydney Scripp, Brandi Shamhart, Nathaniel Sisson, Ladona Stephens, Alisha Stewart, Brian Taylor, Michael Treder, Evan White, Larry Wilcoxen, and Linda Yonker.

Dave Barr was hired as head track and field coach at Meigs High School for the 2022 season, pending completion of all administrative requirements.

The following as substitute bus drivers were hired for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, pending completion of all administrative requirements: Katherine Grueser, Rickey Hoover, and Mike O’Neil.

The following as substitute teachers were hired for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, as approved by the Athens-Meigs Education Service Center and pending completion of all administrative requirements: David House, Jordan Johnson, and Laura Sayre.

Joshua Burnem was hired as a substitute custodian for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, pending completion of all administrative requirements.

Michele Vanaman was hired as a substitute cook for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, pending completion of all administrative requirements.

The board approved a leave request.

Launa Teaford was hired as a substitute after-school instructor at Meigs Elementary School under the 21st Century Grant After-School Program for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year.

The next regular meeting of the Meigs Local Board of Education is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the central office at 6:30 p.m.
