LETART FALLS — Another round of storms brought more rain, lightning and strong winds to the area Sunday afternoon, resulting in downed trees and power outages.
American Electric Power responded quickly to the outage that occurred around 4 p.m. Repair crews worked to restore power to the community as the line lay across S.R. 124 for a short time. After securing the area, crews removed numerous tree limbs from the line before the necessary repairs could be made.
When asked specifically what caused the line to drop, Josh Smith, a member of the repair crew, responded that lightning had struck the transformer during the storm.
“Three phase wires burned one of the wires down,” Smith said.
Power was restored by 9 p.m. and no serious damage was reported.
