ROCKSPRINGS — Meigs High School will celebrate Homecoming next week with the theme of “Bust the Bulldogs.”

Activities are planned for Oct. 5 and 6.

The week will include Spirit Days at school, a day for giving back, bonfire, pep rally and the Alumni Reunion on the River events.

Spirit Days include: Monday, “Hanging with my Homie”, Dynamic Duo or Twin Day; Tuesday, “Homeroom Hijack”, students dress like teachers and teachers dress like students; Wednesday, “Home away from Home”, tacky tourist day; Thursday, “Hometown Heroes”, super hero day with underclassmen as villains and upperclassmen as heroes; Friday, “Let’s hear it for the home team”, maroon and gold day or throwback Meigs.

Thursday will also be a day for giving back, with each class collecting non-perishable food items and hygiene products for the Care by the Stairs project.

Also Thursday morning, MHS Distinguished Alum Frank Blake will speak to high school students. He will be sharing with the students about what he has accomplished since leaving MHS and what it means to him to be a Marauder. He will also be talking about how he and others felt it was important to give back and form the Meigs Local Enrichment Foundation and raised the millions of dollars to make the new Meigs Athletic Complex a reality.

Thursday evening will be a bonfire at 6 p.m.

On Friday, students will take part in a pep rally at the end of the school day, Homecoming Queen crowning and pre-game activities will begin at 6:30 p.m., the Distinguished Alumni Awards at 7:10 p.m.,with the game against Athens to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. The alumni band is to perform at halftime. The homecoming dance will be held after the football game from 10 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday, Reunion on the River will move to downtown Pomeroy with activities on the parking lot, including food, crafts, vendors, inflatables and games beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade will take place at 1 p.m. with line-up at 12:30 p.m. at the Pomeroy ball fields. Following the parade will be the Meigs Band performance on Court Street.

Live music will take place beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening with performances by the Renee Stewart Band, Nick Michael and Susan Page Orchestra, and Marauder.
