NEW HAVEN, W.Va. — A New Haven couple has completed Steve Harvey’s “22 Day Revolution” airing on the “Steve Harvey Show.”
Stephanie and David Killingsworth competed against two other couples and were first featured in an episode that aired Oct. 16. At that time, the couple weighed a combined 664.4 pounds. On Thursday’s episode, the Killingsworths weighed in at 571.4 pounds. That means that as a couple, they lost an astonishing 93 pounds, which is 14 percent of their combined body weight, according to a “Steve Harvey Show” spokesperson.
On Thursday’s episode, three couples, including David and Stephanie, checked-in after completing the challenge. The couple that revealed the largest percentage loss of their combined body weight walked away with $10,000. The winners of the challenge were revealed to be Kendra and Jayson Thornton, of St. Louis, Mo., who lost 15.5 percent of their combined body weight, this included losing 78.6 pounds.
The challenge was to see which couples could lose the highest percentage of that body weight in just 22 days, following the advice of exercise physiologist Marco Borges.
Borges is the creator of the “22-Day Revolution” vegan diet and is better-known as the man behind Jay-Z and Beyonce’s “life-changing diet,” according to a representative from the Steve Harvey Show.
Unfortunately, as many know, West Virginia has a notorious label for being one of the most unhealthiest states in the nation. According to the show’s spokesperson, the New Haven couple have been married for seven years and admitted their biggest issue is that they love fast food, so this 22-day challenge was to be drastically different for them. David told Harvey that both he and Stephanie are nurses and that he felt hypocritical telling his patients that they need to change their bad habits to become healthier.
The Killingsworths also competed against Katie and Nate Brimhall, of Spanish Fork, Utah, with a combined weight of 449.4 pounds to begin the competition. The Brimhalls had a 61.2 pound weight loss, losing 13.6 percent of their combined body weight.
Harvey, the show’s host, is a native of West Virginia. The follow-up show aired Thursday on WCHS-TV 8.
