Sept. 25

Criminal mischief — Deputy Stewart is investigating a report about a vehicle being written on with window markers while parked at the “sandbar” in Racine. A man reported his vehicle was written on while he was swimming at the sandbar. A suspect has been identified and charges are pending.

Domestic violence — Deputies Stewart and Hupp responded to a third-party call about a possible domestic violence situation at a residence on Burlingham Road. Deputies spoke with everyone at the scene and arrested Charles J. Estep for domestic violence and incarcerated him in Meigs County Jail pending his court appearance.

Sept. 26

Prowlers — Sgt. Patterson and Deputy Stewart responded to a residence on Burke Road on a report that someone was outside the residence and possibly trying to steal a vehicle. Deputies arrived and checked the residence and all vehicles outside. Nothing was found, but extra patrol was requested for the area.

Criminal damage — Deputy Stewart is investigating a report from a woman from the Racine Post Office. She reported that two employee vehicles have been vandalized and post office boxes have been opened and rocks thrown through them. If anyone has any information about this incident call the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office at 740-992-3371.

Sept. 27

Theft — A woman reported her Galaxy S6 cell phone was stolen from her residence sometime in the last week. Deputy Campbell took the report and has identified a suspect. Charges are pending.

Juvenile complaint — Deputy Stewart took a report from a female who reported her juvenile son jumped out of the vehicle and fled into the woods. The female reported having problems because he doesn’t want to listen, and wants to run all over town. The juvenile was later located by family members and will have to appear in Meigs County Juvenile Court on unruly charges.

Neighbor dispute — Deputy Riley responded to neighbor dispute on State Route 143. The argument was over property lines and each party was advised to have property surveyed to settle any problems with the property line.

Theft — Sgt Griffin is handling the theft of a hand gun from a vehicle in Syracuse. The incident remains under investigation.

Dispute — Deputy Riley responded to a verbal dispute at a residence near Portland. Upon arrival, both parties agreed to separate for the night and did not wish to pursue any charges.

Sept. 28

Property damage — Sgt. Griffin was dispatched to a residence in Letart Falls in reference to property damage. Several juveniles were reported riding their four-wheelers on some of the neighbor’s property and causing damage. Charges are being considered through Meigs County Juvenile Court.

Probation check — Deputies assisted Meigs County Probation Officer Larry Tucker at a residence on New Lima Road in an attempt to locate a probationer who had failed to report. The probationer was not at the residence, but drug paraphernalia was allegedly recovered from the residence and charges are pending.

Sept. 29

Unruly juvenile — Deputy Hupp handled an unruly juvenile call at Meigs Middle School. The student has been referred to Meigs Juvenile Court.

Search warrant — Deputies conducted a search warrant at a residence on Long Hollow Road. An indoor marijuana growing operation was allegedly discovered along with multiple other drug related items. One male was arrested and charged through Meigs County Court.

Oct. 4

Trespass — Deputy Campbell responded to a residence on Wells Run Road in reference to a trespasser. Deputy Campbell spoke with the homeowner who stated that they just wanted the male subject to stay off their property. All parties were advised to stay on their own property.

Shoplifting — Deputy Campbell was called to the Tuppers Plains Go-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. This incident remains under investigation.

Missing adult — Deputies responded to a residence on Reibel Road in reference to a missing adult. After a lengthy search involving multiple agencies, the male was located and appeared to be fine.

Oct. 6

Disorderly person — Sgt. Griffin was dispatched to a residence near Letart Falls for a disorderly female. The female had left the residence prior to arrival and charges are pending in Meigs County Court.

Dispute — Deputy Riley was called to the Brown’s trailer park in reference to a male and female arguing. Both parties were separated and advised to stay away from each other.

Hit-skip — Deputy Campbell was called to the Dollar General in Tuppers Plains to investigate an accident involving a hit-skip. This incident remains under investigation.

Oct. 11

Prowler — Deputy Campbell responded to a residence near Rutland in reference to possible prowlers. The property was searched and deputies were unable to locate any prowlers.

Stolen vehicle — Deputy Campbell was called to a residence on State Route 143 for a report of a stolen vehicle. The car was located a short time later and an investigation is ongoing.

Credit card misuse — Sgt. Griffin received a call from a resident stating that someone had been using her credit card to make purchases without her permission. A suspect has been identified and charges are pending in Meigs County Court.

Oct. 14

Theft — Deputy Campbell was dispatched to a residence near Chester on a theft call. Deputy Campbell is conducting an investigation and has identified a suspect. The report will be forwarded to the Prosecutors office to determine if charges will be filed in Meigs County Court.
