VINTON COUNTY — The National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia, has confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Vinton County on Saturday evening.
The tornado, with maximum wind of 105 MPH, was located five miles north, northwest of McArthur, initially touching down along Locust Grove Road in rural Vinton County.
The damage path was roughly parallel to Locust Grove Road for 0.8 miles.The tornado path was 230 yards wide.
Hundreds of trees were reportedly snapped and blown down. A roof was blown off of a metal barn, landing in a field 500 feet away.
