POMEROY — Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood reports three men were arrested and charged with aggravated trespassing, assault and felony complicity following a incident that occurred Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 10 p.m.
Sheriff Wood reported his office received a call from a female living on Ohio 143 in Pomeroy. She stated three male subjects kicked in her front and rear doors and two of the suspects entered the residence and assaulted her and her boyfriend. According to the victim, the third suspect remained outside.
The victim suffered injuries to her face. Her boyfriend, who fled the scene after the incident, has not been located at this time to obtain a statement.
The two suspects who allegedly entered her residence and committed the assaults were identified by the victim as Johnny Hawley, 48 and Ronald Hawley, 45, both of Pomeroy.
The third suspect was later identified as Troy Brooks, 51, also from Pomeroy.
Brooks and Ronald Hawley were questioned by deputies and reportedly admitted their part in the incident, according to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office. Johnny Hawley later turned himself in to the sheriff’s office. All three are now incarcerated and awaiting their initial appearance in Meigs County Court.
The incident is being called a “home invasion,”a term used to describe incidents in which the occupant of the home is present at the time of an intrusion. However, “home invasion” is not used as a legal definition in most jurisdictions and suspects are instead charged with crimes such as trespassing, robbery and assault.
This case remains under investigation and more charges may follow.
