HEMLOCK, Ohio — The Lady White Falcons earned their first victory of the season Thursday night with a 53-46 victory over Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division host Miller.
Wahama (1-2, 1-1 TVC Hocking) came out hot offensively scoring 17 points in the opening period including three three-pointers. MHS (0-4, 0-4) scored 14 in the first quarter and trailed by three points.The Red and White went on an eight minute 11-7 run to extend their lead to seven points at the half.
After out scoring WHS 9-to-8 in the third period Miller trailed 36-30 heading into the finale. The hosts compiled 16 points in the fourth period but Wahama marked 17 in the fourth to take the 53-46 win.
Carmichael led Wahama with 24 points on the night including 14 of Wahama’s 17 in the final period. Kelsey Zuspan finished with 11 points, Mackenzie Gabritsch notched 10, Paige Gardner had four points and Olivia Hill finished with two points. Shalyn Greer and Rachel Roque each finished with one point to round out the WHS scoring.
Zuspan, Gardner,Gabritsch and Carmichael each finished with six rebounds on the night while Bunni Peters grabbed one, Greer had four and Roque finished with three.
Miller was led by Ali Bray with 13 points on the night, followed by Jacy Dutiel with eight, Sanae Dutiel with seven Makayla Alexander with six and Rebecca Hook with six. Graceyn Gibson and Katie Hall each finished with three points to round out the MHS scoring.
Wahama was 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) from the charity stripe, while Miller was 12-of-27 (44.4 percent). The triumph gives Julia Hoffman her first victory as Wahama head coach.
The teams will meet again on January 28th in Mason.
