TUPPERS PLAINS — The Eastern Local Board of Education approved personnel matters, including substitute teachers and supplemental contracts, at its regular November meeting.

The board approved the following substitute teachers: William T. Cooperrider, Kellie A. Dawkins, David Graff, Vicki L. Hill, Jill Johnson, Richard Newell and Hanna R. Trapp, and approved Valarie Arnold as a substitute teacher aide for the remainder of the school year.

Lucille Kimes was approved as a substitute custodian for the remainder of the year.

The board approved the resignation of Samantha Cole as assistant varsity cheerleader instructor.

The following substitute supplemental contracts were approved: Martie Baum and Julie Spaun, junior class co-advisors; Josh Fogle, cross-country coach; Sheryl Roush, Senior play co-advisor; Robert Calaway, co-assistant varsity basketball coach; Jeff Johnson, co-assistant varsity girls basketball coach; Samantha Cole, junior high cheerleader instructor; Tammy Adams, Senior play co-advisor.

The board approved the following winter quarter student teachers from Ohio University: Robert Kolenz, social studies; Benjamin Schneider, math; Laura Hmiel, science.

The board approved the requested concert band trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. for March 31-April 3, 2010, but denied a senior class cruise to the Bahamas for April 11-16, 2010.
