MIDDLEPORT — A Middleport man driving a stolen vehicle led police in a high-speed chase through three Ohio counties before being arrested Sunday.
Tommy J. Moore, 24, was arrested Sunday and charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer, receiving stolen property, driving under suspension and no seat belt.
The 2004 Trailblazer was stolen from a Middleport car lot, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is assisting in the case.
Middleport Police Chief Bruce Swift said the 2004 Chevy Trailblazer was stolen from Wheels and Deals, General Hartinger Parkway, sometime between 6 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 3 a.m. on Oct. 17. It was entered into the statewide LEADS system as a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle was recovered in Clinton County Sunday after a high-speed pursuit originating in Columbus. Swift said the pursuit continued from Franklin County into Fayette County, where sheriff’s deputies took over and chased the vehicle into Clinton County. There, the vehicle was stopped and Moore was arrested by Fayette County deputies.
The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the police department contacted BCI&I. The agency was to process the vehicle for evidence on Monday.
