Sacred Heart Catholic Church joined many other Catholic Churches around the world this past week as the “papal bunting” was placed around the door of the church. According the Father Tim Kozak of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the papal bunting is placed around the door of the church in honor of the election of the new pope. The long standing tradition displays the colors of the papal flag — yellow and white. It conveys an expression of joy over the the election of a new pope, Pope Francis. Kozak added that the pope is actually much more than a leader. Catholics believe that the pope is the successor of Peter, the rock on which Christ founded his church.
