POMEROY — Marshall Aanestad, a senior at Eastern High School, recently completed his Eagle Scout project as required for the Eagle Scout rank through the Boy Scouts of America.

He received his rank of Eagle Scout on July 5.

He is the son of Dr. Erik and Mrs. Jane Ann Aanestad of Pomeroy.

The Eagle Scout project entailed a group of eight flags located at the Ohio entrance to the Bridge of Honor.

Five of the flags represent the individual branches of the military service groups, one flag is for the POW/MIA, one flag is the State of Ohio Flag, and the eighth is the American Flag.

After receiving his Eagle Scout award, Marshall turned the project over to the local American Legion, Drew Webster Post 39. The local post will maintain the area and the flags. They will also preserve the contribution of the local Boy Scouts and the efforts of all American service members.
