POMEROY — West Main Street near McDonald’s in Pomeroy will be closed for 10 days beginning Monday, Sept. 17.
Pomeroy Village Administrator Paul Hellman said the closure is necessary to replace the storm water drainage system. The current storm drainage system has collapsed below the roadway.
Due to the type of construction and depth that is required to complete the project, no traffic will be permitted around or through the area.
Small vehicles will be detoured around the construction area, while the larger vehicles will be detoured around the village for the duration of the construction.
One option for local residents will be a detour along the new road beside Taco Bell (now named Jaymar Street) and State Street.
In addition to the closure on West Main Street from Sept. 17-27, East Main Street will be closed for a similar project following the West Main project.
The closure on East Main Street will be in front of Dettwiller Lumber. Dates for the second project will be announced at a later date.
