American Legion Post 602 in Racine conducted the flag raising prior to Wednesday morning’s Fourth of July events in Racine.
Firetrucks from around the region took part in the annual Fourth of July parade in Racine.
Members of Feeney Bennett Post 128 of Middleport presented the flag during Wednesday evening’s parade in Middleport.
The Middleport Fire Department served as Grand Marshall of the Middleport Fourth of July parade on Wednesday afternoon.
MEIGS COUNTY — From Firetrucks to 4-wheelers, the radio station to the marching band, horses to scooters, veterans to political candidates, and everything in between, the area Fourth of July parades in Racine and Middleport had it all.
Racine kicked off the day’s festivities with a flag-raising ceremony at Southern High School prior to the parade and a chicken BBQ to follow. Middleport began hosting activities mid-afternoon, and continued throughout the evening with music and live entertainment, games and food at Dave Diles Park.
Fireworks concluded the day of activities in both Racine and Middleport.
Rutland will host its annual Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 7 with the parade beginning at 10 a.m., and entertainment all day leading up to the fireworks at 11 p.m.
