Raiders fall to Rock Hill, 48-14

PEDRO, Ohio —The River Valley football team dropped its seventh straight game on Friday evening with a 48-14 loss at Ohio Valley Conference opponent Rock Hill.

The Raiders (1-8, 0-4 OVC) fell behind by a 34-0 score before putting their first points on the board.

Rock Hill (3-6,2-2 OVC) scored twice in the opening quarter, with a 33 yard pass from Will McCollister to Trey Wilds and a 57 yard touchdown run by Jared Bruce.

In the second quarter, Bruce scored for the second time with an eight yard run, before McCollister throw his second touchdown of the game. This time it was a 23 yard pass to Jonah Cox.

Rock Hill added another score to begin the third quarter, with McCollister scoring on a 59 yard touchdown run.

Patrick Williams put the Raiders on the board with a three yard touchdown run in the third quarter, with Jacob Leach adding the extra point kick.

The hosts would score one more touchdown in the third quarter, with Wilds returning a kickoff 75 yards for the score. Rock Hill had the first score of the fourth quarter, with a three yard run by McCollister.

River Valley’s final score came on a 12 yard run by quarterback Trey Noble. The extra point by Leach was good.

Rock Hill had three players make extra point kicks in the match, Wilds (3), Jake Malone and Shane Harper (2).

Williams led the Raiders with 136 yards on 34 carries in the loss, Noble added 41 yards on 15 carries and Austin Lewis had 37 yards on four carries.

Austin Lewis caught the lone River Valley pass completion for seven yards.

For Rock Hill, Bruce had seven carries for 129 yards, McCollister had eight carries for 77 yards, and Shane Harper had 10 carries for 57 yards.

Jesse Lanes was the leading Rock Hill receiver with three catches for 110 yards. McCollister was 9-12 passing for 222 yards and two passing touchdowns.

River Valley concludes the 2011 season on Friday as they travel to South Point for an OVC matchup with the Pointers.
