Martha Lou Fry, 71, of Pomeroy, passed away on Oct. 15, 2011, at Rocksprings Nursing Center after many years of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1940, in Cheshire, daughter of the late Emerson Arthur Spires and Helen Gertrude Gardner. She was a member of the Middleport Church of Christ.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Samuel Fry, Jr.; children: Cherie (Dave) See of Pomeroy, Becki (David) Ball of Racine, Christine (Rick) Schaefer of Minersville and Brenda Leslie of Pomeroy; brothers: Robert D. Spires, Paul “Gene” Spires and Lloyd “Jerry” Spires; step-mother, Rita Spires of Pomeroy; half-sister, Donna Jean (Harris) Bourne; grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris) Blank, Stephen (Suzanne Hughes) See, Ben See, Michael (Jodi) Ball, Adam Ball, Jennifer (Michael) Lambert, Mandy (Michael) Reitmire, Joshua Schaefer, Maria (Corey Brown) Schaefer, Meghan (Tyson) Lee and Caitlin Leslie; great grandchildren, Trevor and Isaac Blank, Ashlyn, Tyler, and Joshua Lambert, Kaylie, Mason, and Ava Grace Reitmire; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Middleport with Pastor Al Hartson officiating. Burial will follow at Meigs Memorial Gardens. Visiting hours were held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
