RACINE — On Feb. 21 the Southern Alumni Association will sponsor Southern Alumni Basketball Night at the Charles W. Hayman gymnasium.

All proceeds will go to the Alumni Association and the Hilton “Big Fooze” Wolfe, Jr. scholarship fund. Players from 1995 back should contact Southern Coach Jeff Caldwell at 949-3129. Players from 1996 up to the present (2008) should contact Steve or Craig Randolph at 949-2793. The number of games played will depend upon the number of players signing up.

There will also be a women’s game. All female players from the past to 2008 should contact Rachel Hupp at 508-0242 or 949-3014.

The third and fourth grade students will be on hand to sing the National Anthem, while the first and second graders will sing the Southern fight song “Stand up and Cheer.”

Festivities are slated to begin at 5:45 p.m. All female players should report to the gym by 5 p.m. and all male players should report by 6 p.m. Most likely teams will be divided up by odd years versus even years in their respective age groups.

The Southern Band under the direction of Mr. Chad Dodson will also be on hand for the event, accompanying the students in their performances. Cheerleaders from the past are also invited to come out and support the teams. Southern student announcer Jordan Pickens will announce the games and starting line-ups. Players are asked to condition prior to the game date to avoid injuries. Games are slated to be at 5:45 p.m. for the women, 7:15 p.m. for the 1935-1995 men and 8:30 p.m. for 1996-2008.

Admission is $3 for adults and students $1. Participants in the games are asked for a $3 donation to the alumni. Students singing or in the band will be admitted free.
