WILLOW WOOD — This time, the South Gallia Lady Rebels couldn’t return from a winding road trip with a win.
That’s because the Lady Rebels, playing their second consecutive contest on the road and third match in as many days, were swept at Symmes Valley on Wednesday night with a 25-17, 25-16 and 25-19 defeat.
The non-league loss left the Lady Rebels at 6-15 — and snapped their four-match win streak in the process.
The host Vikings completed the season sweep of South Gallia, having won in five games in Mercerville in the Rebels’ season opener on Aug. 29.
South Gallia was coming off its annual long trek to Miller, then turned around on Wednesday with a snaky trip to Symmes Valley.
The statistics didn’t stand out for South Gallia, and it was reflected in the game scores.
Maddie Simpson led the Lady Rebels with five service points, followed by three apiece from Christine Griffith and Aaliyah Howell.
Erin Evans amassed a team-high four kills, followed by three from Rachal Colburn — and two apiece from Howell and Griffith.
Colburn also served up three aces, as Griffith garnered two blocks and Colburn had one.
Griffith also set for five assists, while Taylor Burnette led the defense with six digs.
Symmes Valley’s three seniors contributed to the victory, including 10 points, four aces, 19 assists and eight digs by Sierra Ross.
Mikayla Herrell had eight points and a pair of aces, while Hannah Newcomb chipped in with five digs.
Taylor Webb with nine kills and Kaitlyn Crabtree with eight were the top Viking hitters, as Kinley Patterson had nine points, two aces and seven assists.
