MASON, W.Va. — Close … but the Black Knights got their proverbial cigar.
The Point Pleasant golf team snuck away from Riverside Golf Course with a one stroke victory over Ravenswood, Wahama and Clay County on Wednesday night in a non-conference quad match in Mason County.
The Black Knights got a medalist effort from senior Doug Workman, who posted a low round of 41 over the course of nine holes.
That score ended up being the difference between first and second place in the quad standings, as there was a three-way tie for the overall runner-up spot between Point’s Colby Martin and the RHS duo of Alex Easthom and Logan Nelson with identical efforts of 42.
PPHS ended up posting a winning team tally of 170 and the Red Devils finished with a 171. Both the third and fourth golfers for each team also fired identical scores to wrap up the team totals.
