WEST UNION, W.Va. — A productive road trip.
The Wahama wrestling team had all seven grapplers earn top-four finishes while placing fourth overall Saturday at the 2016 Bulldog Bash held at Doddridge County High School.
The White Falcons scored 92 points and finished in the upper half of the nine-team field, with Morgantown capturing the overall title with 277 points. Doddridge County was next with 136 points, while Elkins (111) and St. Mary’s (87) respectively rounded out the third and fifth spots.
WHS was led by sophomores Ethan Herdman (145) and Dalton Kearns (132), both of whom scored a pair of pinfall wins while finishing second overall in their respective weight classes. Herdman went 4-1 overall and Kearns finished the day with a 2-1 overall mark.
Four Wahama grapplers finished third in their respective weight classes. Senior Richard Short went 1-2 at 195 pounds, junior Bradley Powell went 3-2 at 152 pounds, sophomore Trey Peters was 1-2 at 106 pounds, and freshman Antonio Serevicz went 3-2 overall at 182 pounds.
Powell and Serevicz recorded two pinfall wins apiece, while Short and Peters each had one pinfall victory. Freshman Alex Mitchell also placed fourth after scoring a pair of pinfall wins while going 2-3 overall at 160 pounds.
