POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — The 10th annual Jason Eades Memorial Duals wrestling tournament will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Point Pleasant Junior-Senior High School gymnasium in Mason County.
The two-day event — which started as the Point Pleasant Pool Tournament in 2000 before being renamed to honor Jason Eades in 2006 — will feature 20 teams from West Virginia and Ohio in a four-pool, round-robin format.
Each team will complete a head-to-head dual with the four other teams in their respective pool, then a finals round will be held between the four squads that finish in the same team spots from each pool. From there, the top team scores from the end of the day will determine the final overall outcome.
The event officially starts on Friday with 2 p.m. weigh-ins, and fans can start filing in for the event at 3:45 p.m. The tournament will continue throughout Friday evening and will resume Saturday morning at 9 a.m. until its completion.
Besides host Point Pleasant, the eighth ranked program in Class AAA, Wahama will be the only other Ohio Valley Publishing program attending this year’s event.
Other teams participating at the event include Bishop Fenwick (OH), George Washington, St. Albans, Riverside, Raone County, Greenbrier West, Wahama, Herbert Hoover, Oak Hill, Capital, Nitro, Poca, Shady Spring, Greenbrier East, Woodrow Wilson, Sissonville, Hurricane and Winfield.
George Washington, St. Albans and Riverside are respectively ranked sixth, seventh and 10th in Class AAA, while Roane County and Greenbrier West are sixth and ninth in Class AA rankings.
