POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — A decade of dominance.

The Point Pleasant football program earned its 10th straight playoff berth and a fifth consecutive postseason game at home with the announcement of the 2017 Class AA bracket on Sunday by the WVSSAC.

The Big Blacks (8-2) earned the seven seed and will host 10th-seeded Philip Barbour (8-2) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Ohio Valley Bank Track and Field in Mason County.

Point Pleasant — which will be making its 15th playoff appearance in history — owns a 10-14 overall mark in postseason games all-time.

The Big Blacks are 50-7 at OVB Field since the stadium opened in 2009, including an 8-4 mark in playoff games. PPHS coach Dave Darst is also 8-9 in playoff games and 94-25 overall during his 11 seasons at the helm.

Point Pleasant — which has a playoff win in each of the past four seasons — has won 22 of its last 25 decisions in the friendly confines of OVB Field.

The Colts last made the playoffs in 2013 and had gone 0-20 in the past two regular seasons before a remarkable turnaround this fall.
