IRONTON, Ohio — The running Raiders ruled Tigertown on Saturday.
The River Valley boys and girls cross country teams both came away with team championships, at Saturday’s Trigertown Cross Country Palooza, hosted by Ironton High School.
The Lady Raiders posted a winning team team total of 42, 22 points ahead of second place South Webster. RVHS sophomore Kenzie Baker paced the field of 53 with a time of 20:43, while Huntington sophomore Allison Dempsey was second with a time of 21:20.
Following Baker for the Silver and Black were 10th place finisher Julia Nutter (23:52), 12th place finisher Leanne Hively (24:02), 16th place finisher Bailey Hollingsworth (24:17) and 24th place finisher Josie Jones (25:45). Potentiel tie-breaking runners for RVHS were 30th place Hannah Nutter (26:22) and 40th place Natosha Rankin (27:46).
SGHS senior Kelsey Corbin was the lone Lady Rebel to compete, and she finished ninth with a time of 23:28.
The Raiders won the boys competition team total of 32, edging second place Rock Hill by just two. Redmen junior Brendon McCormick paced the field of 98 with a time of 17:06, followed by River Valley senior Jacob Kemper (17:19).
Following Kemper for the Raiders were fourth place finisher Nathaniel Abbott (18:22), fifth place finisher Chance Gillman (18:27), eighth place finisher Garrett Young (18:36) and 13th place finisher George Rickett (19:11). River Valley’s potentiel tie-breaking runners were 19th place finisher Caleb McKnight (19:37) and 31st place finisher Ben Moody (20:16).
