ALBANY, Ohio — The rough stretch continues for the Lady Raiders.
The River Valley volleyball team dropped its third straight Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division match Thursday night, as Alexander — which has won four consecutive league matches — claimed a straight-game victory in Athens County.
The Lady Raiders (3-8, 1-4 TVC Ohio) grabbed an early lead in the opening game, but the Lady Spartans battled back to tie the game at 11. AHS scored nine of the next 10 points en route to a 25-15 win.
River Valley also jumped out to an early lead in the game, but Alexander took a 9-8 lead and never relinquished it. The Lady Spartans won the second game by a 25-19 margin, and moved ahead 2-0 in the match.
The Lady Spartans never trailed in the third game, storming to a 25-10 victory, which sealed the match by a 3-0 tally.
River Valley was led by senior Ashley Gilmore with five service points, followed by Brianna McGuire with four. Jacey Walter marked three points, including two aces, while Alex Truance added one point in the setback.
Truance led the net attack for River Valley with eight kills and two blocks. Walter posted four kills and one block, McGuire added three kills, while Jessi Steele finished with one kill. Gilmore, Walter and Courtney Smith each had one dig, while Smith led the Lady Raiders with 10 assists.
The Silver and Black will look for revenge on October 13, when the Lady Spartans visit Bidwell.
River Valley — which visited Federal Hocking on Saturday — returns to action on Tuesday, when the Wellston Lady Rockets invade Gallia County.
