JACKSON, Ohio — A solid road win for the Black Knights.
The Point Pleasant golf team claimed a five-stroke victory over the field on Wednesday at Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson County. Jackson served as host for the match.
The Big Blacks led the way with a team score of 171, while the Jackson B team (176) took second place and the Jackson A team (180) took third place. Vinton County finished the match in fourth with a collective 189, while River Valley finished with a 209.
PPHS senior Matthew Martin led the Black Knights with a 40, while Douglas Workman and Bryce Tayengco both fired a 43. Hunter Holcomb finished the match with a 45. Austin Liptrap (50) and Rhett Lanier (53) also contributed to the Black and Red’s final score.
Senior Logan Sheets led the Raiders with a 40. Cliff Chapman fired a 54, followed by Chance Gillman (56) and Grant Gilmore (59) for the Silver and Black.
Scores for Jackson include Dakota Simpson (36), Derek Murray (40), Evan Coyan (44), Aiden Massie (46), Jared Lemaster (47), John Bachtel (47), Alex Miller (47), Ethan Mercer (48), Nick Weaver (53) and Matt Moore (55).
Scores for Vinton County include Austin Ward (45), Noah Waddell (46), Bailey Bartoe (48), Shawn McCarty (50), Dakota Hashman (56) and Cameron Hamon (57).
