MERCERVILLE, Ohio — The Lady Rebel offense just couldn’t get going.
The South Gallia girls basketball team never scored more than five points in a quarter on Thursday night, as Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division guest and defending state champion Waterford claimed a 54-12 decision, in Gallia County.
The Lady Wildcats (3-0, 2-0 TVC Hocking) led 11-to-2 at the end of the first period and expanded the lead to 23-5 by the end of the first half.
South Gallia (1-2, 0-2) was outscored 18-to-2 in the third period, as WHS increased its lead to 41-7 with eight minutes to play. Waterford capped off the 54-12 victory with a 13-5 run.
Just three Lady Rebels marked in the scoring column, led by Erin Evans with six points. Aaliyah Howell posted four points, while Olivia Hornsby added two. Evans sank the Lady Rebels’ lone trifecta in the game, and SGHS made one of its two free throw tries.

Hannah Duff poured in seven points, Rachael Adams chipped in with five, Hayley Duff contributed four, while Jillian McCutcheon scored three.
