Man accused of killing dog enters plea

POINT PLEASANT — A plea has been entered in the case of a man accused of killing his neighbor’s dog with a pitchfork.Todd Thompson, 44, of Point Pleasant, has entered a guilty plea to the misdemeanor offense of cruelty to animals, a lesser included offense as contained in the September 2013 indictment. A grand jury indicted Thompson on a charge of maliciously killing an animal, a felony.Thompson appeared before Judge David W. Nibert this week in Mason County Circuit Court represented by Attorney Damon Morgan Jr. Thompson is to reappear before Nibert at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 17. The misdemeanor charge carries a fine of no less than $300 nor more than $2,000 or confinement in jail not more than six months or both.
