MIDDLEPORT — Kids cut out paper designs, and then pasted and painted their way through an afternoon of art at the Pomeroy Library Tuesday in the third session of summer artistic programs sponsored by the Riverbend Arts Council this summer.
Art instructor Bobbi Owen worked with the children on projects which will be displayed at the Arts Council’s “Art in the Village” show to be held on Sept. 22. at Council headquarters in Middleport. Earlier this summer, Owen had art classes with groups of children at the Riverbend Arts Council and at the Mason City Building in Mason, W. Va.
As in previous years the art show, chaired by Rhojean McClure, will showcase the work of area artists, both adult and children. There will also be a variety of art activities for the children including face painting and painting demonstrations by area artists. While the paintings will be held inside, there will be a variety of street activities including entertainment and a Chinese auction.
The art programs and show are supported in part by the Ohio River Border Initiative, a joint project of the Ohio Arts Council and the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
