ONA — Point Pleasant’s John Kinnaird finished 51st in the Class AA-A State Championship Cross Country meet Saturday held at Cabell Midland High School.
Kinnaird was the first qualifier for the State Meet in Point Pleasant High School history. He finished in a time of 19:49.94 for the race.
The Class AA-A race was won by Drew Woodford of Grafton High School with a time of 17:09.02, 16 seconds ahead of second place John Mundey (17:25.03) of Berkeley Springs.
Grafton High School won the team championship with a combined score of 57 among their top five finishers. Berkeley Springs High School took second place at the meet with a team total of 98.
Kinnaird, a sophomore, was the lone local runner in the competition.
