POMEROY, Ohio — So much for gracious guests.


The Waterford boys and girls golf teams both claimed victory over Eastern, Thursday afternoon in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division match at the Meigs County Golf Course.


The Lady Wildcats were led by girls medalist Kenzie Diez with a 11-over par 45. Brianna Hart added a 53 for Waterford, while Liz Leach and Abby Eichmiller each posted a 56 to round out the WHS total of 210.


Katelyn Edwards led the Lady Eagles with a 48, followed by Grace Edwards with a round of 49. Kaitlyn Hawk fired a 60, while Allie Grueser marked a 62, rounding out the EHS total of 219.


The Wildcats were paced by Cam Bosner and Jordan Welch, who both fired five-over par rounds of 39 to earn co-medalist honors for the boys. Alex Branham’s 40 was Waterford’s third score, while both Brent Ginther and Isaic Trader fired 42 but only one counted. Josh Steuart’s 43 did not count toward the WHS total of 160.


Jacob Brewer led the Eagles with a 49, followed by Ty Bissell with a 51 and Zach Connolly with a 58. Sean Evans posted a 62, capping off the EHS total of 220.


Brewer recorded birdies on the first, third and eighth holes, while Connolly birdied the ninth. The Eagles will return to action on Thursday when they host Belpre and Southern.
