For the second time in three years and just the fifth time in school history, the Point Pleasant football program has finished the regular season with an unbeaten record after posting a 31-21 victory over visiting Lewis County in a Week 11 gridiron matchup at Ohio Valley Bank Track and Field in Point Pleasant. The Big Blacks (10-0) were one of only two Class AAA teams (Huntington) to finish the 2013 campaign unbeaten while also joining the 1969, 1979 and 2011 squads with unblemished records. The 1962 squad went unbeaten but also finished that season with a tie. The Big Blacks will be making their sixth consecutive postseason appearance next week under seventh-year coach Dave Darst, who was treated to a Gatorade bath at the end of Saturday’s contest. Point Pleasant’s opponent has yet to be determined, but the Big Blacks’ will be hosting in what will be their 11th postseason berth. (Bryan Walters/photos)
