ATHENS — Ohio University will close effective at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.

The National Weather Service is forecasting below normal temperatures, and a wind chill warning is in effect for much of southeast Ohio beginning at 5 p.m. tonight. Due to these forecasts, Ohio University leadership is closing all campuses and centers effective at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.

Classes that are underway before the 5 o’clock hour are instructed to conclude by 5 p.m. All classes and activities after 5 p.m. are cancelled. Everyone is advised to stay indoors and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. Additional CATS buses (www.facilities.ohio.edu/cats) will be made available through Ohio University Transportation Services to limit wait time at bus stops. Service will be extended through 10 p.m. to allow for transportation around campus after normal operating hours. Essential University personnel (such as Facilities and Culinary Services staff) should check in with direct supervisors for instructions regarding their work responsibilities during a campus closure.

An update to the University’s status will be posted to the Alert page at ohio.edu/alert, as well as sent via e-mail and text message this afternoon.
