A Hillsboro man died Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 124 in Clinton County after he reportedly drove left of center.

Larry M. Black, 58, of Hillsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office. The fatal crash was the fourth in the past week on Clinton County roads.

Black was traveling southeast on State Route 124 in a 2005 Pontiac G6, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Vicki D. Beekman, 51, of Hillsboro, was traveling northwest on State Route 124 in a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The highway patrol stated Black traveled left of center and struck Beekman’s vehicle head-on.

Beekman was transported by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with serious injuries, stated the patrol. She was entrapped in her vehicle for about 45 or 50 minutes, Sgt. Anthony Lauer of the OSHP said Friday.

Black was not restrained at the time of the crash, according to the news release. Beekman was wearing her safety belt when the head-on wreck occurred.

The collision was on State Route 124 near State Route 134 in Clark Township. It took place about 8:15 a.m. Friday.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Clinton-Highland Fire District and EMS, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, OSHP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash still remains under investigation by the OSHP’s Wilmington post.
