OHIO VALLEY — Local residents who enjoy stargazing, telescopes, and planets can experience a night with the planets in the Federal Valley Resource Center in Stewart on Friday, July 8, beginning at dusk.
Three planets and the crescent moon will grace the early evening sky in July, and Ohio University Astronomy instructors George Eberts and Tom O’Grady will have telescopes on hand for visitors to view the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, the planet Mars and the craters on the moon.
The village of Stewart has exceptionally dark skies that and are good for viewing, giving visitors an opportunity to see the constellations.
The stargazing event will occur at the Federal Valley Resource Center, 8225 State Route 329, Stewart. In the event of rain, the program will be rescheduled for July 9 at the same time.
