Route 7/143 construction adjusted for school traffic

POMEROY — Following a traffic backup in the construction area along State Route 7 in the area of State Route 143 and Union Avenue on Thursday morning, contractors will adjust their work schedule, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

On Thursday morning as buses and other traffic were traveling along Route 7 between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., traffic was backed up in both directions, causing delays.

Asked about the delays, ODOT District 10 spokesperson Ashley Rittenhouse stated, “We are waiting to begin work until 8 tomorrow morning (after most school related traffic), and hope to have the contractor out of traffic from 2:30-3:30 p.m. (afternoon school traffic time).

Work in the area, which includes installing turn lanes and moving the Route 7-143 intersection, is expected to be completed in October.
