Colburns top Market Sheep Show


ROCKSPRINGS — The brother and sister duo of Auston Colburn and Breanna Colburn took top honors in the Meigs County Junior Fair Market Sheep Show on Monday evening in the Ridenour Family Livestock Arena. The siblings also earned grand champion (Auston) and reserve champion (Breanna) in the Market Sheep Showmanship contest.

Rounding out the top five for the Market Sheep Show were Wyatt Watson, followed by Braden Watson and Zachary Williams.

Participants in the Market Sheep Show (by weight class, in order of placement) included:

Class 1 — Jasina Will, Laikyn Davis, Bradley Hamm, Colton Hamm and Kenda Dunkle;

Class 2 — Braden Watson, Zachary Williams, Alli Hatfield, Caroline Roush, Amy Griffin and Coltin Parker;

Class 3 — Wyatt Watson, Rhett Beegle, Taylor Parker, Matthew Werry and Chelsey Pullins;

Class 4 — Auston Colburn, Breanna Colburn, Jordan Roush, Rachel Jackson and Courtnee Williams;

Class 5 (overweight) — Ashton Vance.

In addition to the market sheep, junior fair participants also took part in the sheep breeding show.

Siblings Rachel Kesterson and Michael Kesterson took top showmanship honors in the sheep breeding showmanship. Rachel was named grand champion, with Michael reserve champion.

In the sheep breeding Suffolk class, Michael Kesterson was named grand champion with his yearling ewe. Rachel Kesterson was named reserve champion with her ewe spring lamb.

The grand champion Katahdin lamb was the ewe spring lamb shown by Jasina Will.

The grand champion crossbred lamb was the crossbred spring lamb shown by Matthew Werry. Werry’s ewe over two was named the reserve champion.

Overall grand champion in sheep breeding was Werry’s crossbred spring lamb, with Michael Kesterson’s Suffolk yearling ewe taking reserve champion.
