JACKSON, Ohio — The Gallia Academy soccer team ended the regular season on a down note Thursday night following a 2-0 setback to host Jackson in the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League finale for both programs at Alumni Stadium.
The visiting Blue Devils (4-10, 1-9 SEOAL) suffered their third straight setback to close the 2013 campaign while also being shut out by the Ironmen (10-6, 6-4) for the second time this fall. Jackson also claimed a 5-0 victory at GAHS back on September 17.
Brandon Ghearing netted a pass from Jimmy Voiles in the 21st minute to claim an early 1-0 lead, which held up until halftime. Sheldon Moore doubled the lead after netting a pass from Quentin Haislop in 76th minute, which put the game away at 2-0.
JHS outshot the guests by a 26-2 overall margin, which included an 11-0 edge in shots on goal. The Ironmen also claimed a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
GAHS keeper Alex Greer made nine saves in net, while Jackson net keeper Chandler Fout earned a shutout without stopping a shot. Both Blue Devil shot attempts came in the first half.
